One of the most important things that you should do when you are thinking living room designs and ideas for a small space is to make a list of all the items that you will need for your studio apartment, then find out which items can be multi functional and which items can be found in smaller sizes. Try to do everything possible to get clutter to a minimum so that your home feels spacious no matter what the size is.

Since you can never have enough storage in an apartment, instead of a bench at the end of your bed or a coffee table in front of your sofa, consider two large antique trunks. You could add a custom cut glass top to the one in the living room and a custom cushion to the one in the bedroom. You will still have a coffee table and a bench to sit on but you will also have a ton of hidden storage inside those two trunks.
