Get Rid of Bed Bugs - An Apartment Dwellers Guide
By R. Current - Ezinearticles

If you rent and want to get rid of bed bugs there are several options that you can take. First step is to notify your landlord. Depending upon the local city codes your landlord may be required to deal with the problem. However, even if they are required to act, it is a good idea to take steps to exterminate bedbugs yourself.

That is because most management companies are unwilling to pay the high cost to completely eliminate the bug, instead being happy with just controlling them. And even if they do try it is often a losing battle. Their problem is that even if they succeed in completely eliminating them from a building the next resident that moves in might reinfect the whole building. Or someone dragging an infested mattress through the halls can leave a trail of bed bugs and infest units that were previously bug free.

It is even possible that a visit to an infested unit will end up carrying some back home in your clothing. Plus, in any building there are going to be a few people who refuse having their units treated out of fear of the chemicals, embarrassment or because they just don't or can't prepare their unit for the exterminating process.

The bottom line is that getting rid of bed bugs is much harder than most other pests. Add to this the fact that bed bugs are not considered as a health risk by most cities and you end up where a whole lot of people are today. Infested with bed bugs and not knowing what to do about it. So while you may get some help from your landlord, the most effective way to get rid of bedbugs is to do some of the work yourself.
