Apartment Rental Agreement
When signing a rental agreement for an apartment or house the most likely agreement that you will need to use is a one year lease, this type of lease is the standard in rentals and preferable for most landlords and tenants. However there are times and places where a month to month rental agreement may be preferable by either party. A one year lease is fine when you want to make sure that your property will be inhabited on the long term and that you will not have to getting new tenants every few months.
There are a few good reasons why either party or the other may prefer a month to month contract however, such as if the landlord is going to be out of state or the country and is planning to be back in a few months, such an agreement can offer someone in transition a place to live temporarily while a landlord may have home that is sitting empty. Neither party wants to commit to an entire year so by using a month to month agreement both are able to terminate the agreement when they are ready.
